Brian O’Neill

Vice President of Crisis Management & Business Continuity

Brian O’Neill is Vice President of the Crisis Management and Business Continuity Team. In this role, he directly reports to the Senior Vice President & Chief Business Continuity Officer and is responsible for risk identification and developing plans and strategies to mitigate potential threats to the health system’s ability to continue to provide its mission of patient care.

Mr. O’Neill’s additional responsibilities include leading the continuity and preparedness planning efforts for all system entities and leading the system’s incident response team to manage crises and disasters.

Prior to his current role, Mr. O’Neill served as a senior leader holding several operational leadership positions within the health system . He has extensive experience in emergency services and managing disasters impact on healthcare facilities.

Mr. O’Neill has also led one of the nation’s largest hospital-based Emergency Medical Services programs and created a nationally respected Healthcare Emergency Management division. He has formal training in emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, emergency management response. He is a member of the Health and Human Services Disaster Medical Response Team (DMAT) and is recognized as a New York State certified incident command system instructor.

His incident management experience served him well while he lead the health system through several crises including numerous hurricanes, the September 11th Terrorist Attacks, Super Storm Sandy, the Northeast Blackout of 2003, healthcare response to emerging infectious diseases such as SARS, H1N1, and most recently the COVID-19 Pandemic.
