MARO RTC Overview

As of July 2022, the Crisis Management Team at Northwell Health has been recognized as the Metropolitan Area Office - Regional Training Center (MARO- RTC) for the Long Island and Lower Hudson Valley service area.

In this role, our team will be responsible for supporting the development of facilities within Long Island and the Lower Hudson Valley’s response to WMD events and other public health threats and emergencies. This includes collaborating with hospitals, home care, long-term care, local emergency management offices, and other local municipalities.

Northwell Health represents the largest provider of healthcare in New York State with a significant presence in both the Long Island (LI) and Lower Hudson Valley (LHV) MARO subregions. Northwell Health has an extensive educational footprint through its historic professional network including its Medical and Nursing Schools (Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell), its corporate university (CLI- Center for Learning & Innovation) and Center for EMS Training Institute. Based upon these proven best practices, competency-based framework and curriculum standardization, the Public Safety Academy will use these standards as the Regional Training Center.
