Lead Emergency Management Program Specialist

Stephen Scymcyk is a Lead Emergency Management Program Specialist for Northwell Health’s Crisis Management Team.  In this role, he is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of the Crisis Management Incident Response Team (CMIRT). Additionally, Mr. Scymcyk is a key member of the Crisis Management Training Team and provides instruction to Northwell Team members and community partners.

Prior to joining Northwell, Mr. Scymcyk served as Law Enforcement as an Emergency Service Police Officer and Instructor for both the New York City Police Department and the Nassau County Police Department. Additionally, he has over 44 years of experience in the fire service as both a Class A interior fire fighter and a Critical Care Technician (AEMT-CC) for the North Merrick Fire Department (NMFD). During his time with NMFD, Mr. Scymcyk served as the Chief of Department and held public office as a Fire Commissioner.

Mr. Scymcyk’ s wealth of knowledge has served him well in his role as 2nd Deputy Chief Instructor at the Nassau County Fire Academy providing instruction to firefighters, police officers, industry and health care providers ranging from Basic Fire Fighting to Hazardous Materials, Confine Space Rescue, High Angle Rescue and Active Shooter Response. He is a Department of Homeland Security Instructor providing classes at both the Center of Domestic Preparedness (CDP) and LSU NCBRT/ Academy of Counter Terrorist Education.
